So I got accepted into Columbia College Vancouver a while back but my dad is having difficulty with the full payment the college uses to arrange for custodianship (I'm 18). Meanwhile, I'm already a little late in sending my study permit application. They told me it takes a maximum of 4 months and on Friday it will be exactly 4 months till the day I'm supposed to report for classes. My dad said he'll be able to complete the payment in 2 weeks but that's not enough time! I literally fell on the ground and cried for about half an hour when I realized this might hold me back from my studies. I've already been held back by 1 year and 4 months from doing my studies. I'm so so so desperately in need of help. :'( :'( :'(

Can anybody help me find somebody that can sign as my custodian. I'll be 19 in December so you only have to be signed for the first 3 months I'm in Vancouver.

If you know a family in Vancouver that is willing to help please let me know! All I need is custodianship. The college is helping us with the living arrangements.

Agreeing to be a custodian comes with certain legal and financial responsibilities - and therefore carries some risk. For this reason I think you might have trouble finding a stranger who is willing to do this for you.

Do you have any friends or family in the Vancouver area?

No, I don't have any family but I have friends that are studying there. Would they allow another student above 19 to be my custodian?

I'm only going to be a minor for the first 3 months of my stay there, I doubt I can run into any trouble in that time. If they would like compensation we can arrange some sort of payment agreement.

If its a maximum of four months then what's the worry? Four months is just a general timeline. It is not a fixed time that you need to worry about. Just let your father complete the payment and then apply for your study permit. Two weeks should not make any difference. What you are trying to do, if at all possible, will take much more time than two weeks to happen. Your study permit may get rejected for showing a custodian with whom you do not have real ties.
