My fiance (he's morocccan) and I are getting married in morocco this June. I have all the necessary papers required to get married there. However, my fiance mentioned to me about a police officer who told him that I have to have a letter stating that my parents are allowing me to get married. Supposedly, if I don't have this paper, then we would not be able to get married. This is very odd for me. I have not come across a forum where it states a police officer needs a letter that states a canadian female (21 years of age) needs permission to get married. I think its very odd. In fact, I'm thinking perhaps the police man is thinking of: a request for marriage written in language Arab and intended for the Judge of the family court or Certificate of capacity of marriage, delivered by the Embassy of Canada in Rabat. All these papers have to be processed in Morocco.
If anyone can clarify this that would be great. I honestly don't think it's necessary for my parents to write a letter, and getting this letter would be quite difficult. They are in Philippines right now and sending a letter by post might take too long. And I don't have that much time left to wait. =S
