There is a question if the sponsor has ever resided in another country. My wife was born in Pakistan and moved to Canada when she was 4 years old and then came back to Pakistan 4 times after that. Once for 4 months, once for 6 months and twice for 3 months. She's also a dual citizen so would CIC consider her as a resident of another country or not because of her visits to Pakistan and living for 4 years in Pakistan before moving to canada? Does she need to provide details about her visits to Pakistan? Like first 4 years till the age of 4 can be consider as residents but what about the later visits?
its question number 8 on form IMM5540.

Re: Help Form IMM5504 Sponsor

residency and citizenship are not one in the same. a person can be a citizen of another country and never have resided there. technically, she did reside in her home country up to the age of 4, so yes, i would think that would need to go into her application.

the other trips sound more like visits. did she work, go to school or pay taxes when she was there those times? did she use government assistance? if not, then it sounds like she was a visitor. when you visit somewhere, you aren't necessarily residing there. so those trips would not count as time residing in another country. i don't think the sponsor is required to provide travel details like the applicant is, so unless it specifically asks for her entire travel history, I wouldn't think they count as residing. she wasn't a resident when she visited.

out of her 4 trips she did go to school only for once in 2009 for 5 months other then that she was just visiting and not doing any job.

then i would think that counts as being a resident during that time, so i would think that trip would be added to the application. it's always better to put more information and let cic decide if it's relevant than to not put information that is required.
