Help Extending the Stay for a US Citizen in Canada

Hey Board,

Well things have surely gone downhill since my last post. As I previously explained briefly, the Alberta Government hired me, I moved here, and the day I started they informed me that they didn't apply for an LMO and wouldn't and that I couldn't work for them. Then the front desk job at the hotel came through as an emergency back up, but they changed the TFW program right in the middle of my application process and my LMO got rejected and the Renaissance rescinded my offer of employment, that's twice this has happened to me now. I am beginning to think that Canada just doesn't want me here.

Can someone PLEASE link me the ONLINE application to extend my visitor status? When I look online, I go through the steps and it tells me I am eligible to apply online but then it gives me forms to mail in, for the life of me I cannot find the actual online application to EXTEND my status, not enter for the first time. I applied online for my work permit and it was easy, I need to find that same pack for the extension.

I am going to request the extension based on (1) a relationship where he will support me and (2) my battle with the Alberta Government is in grievance right now and I have to be here for the hearing dates.

Thanks again group, y'all have been great, I just wish I hadn't experienced all these issues because I really do love Canada. But not being able to work, bank, or even risk leaving and being able to return, is so aggravating. I sent a package Canada Post, it missed the delivery deadline so they refunded my money in the form of a check. Not a single bank would cash it because I was not a member and couldn't become one, even though the check was written on their bank so I stuck with a Canadian check that I can't use... lol, it's always something.

Either you are not elegible to apply online or you are doing something wrong. Sadly there is no "direct link" to the online application, you have to go through the wizard, create your checklist and then that will allow you to submit your application online. You have to follow those steps, there is no other way.

Be careful on how you anser the questions. If you dont get the option to submit it online most probably you don't qualify for it.

You can open a bank account as a visitor. Just keep visiting branches and sooner or later you'll find one that will do it (try parts of the city with high immigrant populations). Or you can eventually deposit it into a US bank account.
