Hi all,

I recently got married last April and created a EE profile last June declaring my civil status as married.

I just got my ITA and some of the documents I have particularly my police certificate is still showing my previous civil status as single. Also, in my proof of funds, I have a deed of sale which states that I sold a property with my civil status still tagged as single. The reason why I sold my property with a single status is because my civil status in my country has not yet been updated.

We got married in Canada and my wife who's based in Canada just received our marriage certificate last month. I haven't updated my civil status in the country yet because I need the original marriage certificate to update my status here in my country.

Any tips or problems I should be concerned about? I'm thinking of creating an affidavit of explanation to include in my LOE.

Bottomline is I'm married but some of my documents are still tagged as single because we recently just got married.

If you visited that country when you were single, then its fine else it should be married.

You are seeing problems where they are none. You are recently married and because it was a marriage abroad it takes time for all to be updated.
And of course you might still have documents that are not updated.
So just write a simple LOE and that's all.

Thanks! I guess I was concerned because the deed of sale was just last week and even though I am well aware that I got married last April my civil status here in my country has not yet been updated and I had to change the deed to reflect my previous civil status as single to finalize the sale right away. I'll just explain it in my LOE then.

again, just explain the process.
I had the same case. I was married for 4 months before I got my local marriage certificate. And until then I was seen as single. All that is normal, so just explain it. that's all.
