Hi everyone.
I am looking for information regarding my visa. Over a year ago my partner and I moved to Canada after he was offered a job there. We are both British citizens and not permanent residents of Canada. He is sponsored by his employer. I followed him shortly after, after obtaining a 1 year working holiday visa (we were unaware that as common law, I could apply for a work permit based on his LMO). As my 1 year approached, we applied for an open work permit for me based on his LMO, which has been approved and is in my passport. The only conditions on it seem to be about industry's I can work in. There is also a note at the bottom saying 'spouse has visa for the same dates'.
I have recently returned to the uk for a short holiday and since returning I have reason to believe that he may be being unfaithful and would like to know what this would mean for my status in Canada if I was to leave him. I am due to return in the coming days. My whole life is in Canada and I was planning to apply for PR in December. My hope is that I am wrong and that there will be no need to separate, but I need to know where i stand if it is the worst case scenario.
I would really appreciate your advice as soon as possible, as you can imagine this is a very worrying time for me.
Thank you so much in advance.
