I am having trouble with a few of the key forms, I wonder if anyone can advise on

The problem is that the pdf boxes are too small for the info they ask for. For the longer paragraph type questions it's ok since we can attached a separate sheet, but for questions like listing job titles, school names, address in the small one line boxes, it cuts off half the answer (ex 'conservation policy coordinator', only shows up as 'conservation pol'). They won't be able to properly see the answers and it looks unfinished. Should I make the tables again in Word on separate sheets attached and just type it there?

I have tried Adobe and Preview on my Mac and on internet explorer on a PC

Anyone else having these types of technical problems?

Thanks!

Just attach separate sheets.

I noticed that many of their PDF forms have a lot of problems. Some fields are single line entry and the font / character limit is too small to be useful, when they should be smaller multi-line entries. There was also the applicant questionnaire for Philippines that would "lose extended features" when entering information using Adobe Acrobat, thus rendering the PDF read-only. Extremely frustrating when you enter everything the first pass and go in the next day to edit something and find that you can't. I used FoxIT PDF reader in those cases which didn't exhibit the problem. But then FoxIT had trouble with another TRV related form there the date validation was messes up in the employment section and would trigger an error saying the end date month must be after the start date month, but it would trigger the error even if the year was different (e.g. 2013-03 to 2014-01 would fail). But the same problem wouldn't occur with Adobe Acrobat. They really need to overhaul all their forms to make them easier to enter the information...

But yes I agree with ImABule, just type in the first field "please see separate sheet", and then include all the information there in the same format as it appears on the form to make it easy for them to read it.

Thanks S_and_C - I've had lots of little technical problems. Very frustrating.

Just a quick question - you mention "the applicant questionnaire for the Philippines"

My spouse is Filipino and we are also going through the Manila office - are there any special forms I need to know about?
I have the checklist and the Philippines country specific checklist to guide us on the forms, but I don't think any of the form fillable PDFs are specific to the Philippines????

Sorry, there isn't a Philippines specific form, but just talking about the immigrant forms on this page: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

Specifically IMM5490, if you go through and enter information on the multi-line fields and make selections in the yes/no checkboxes, saving and reopening the form in Adobe renders it un-editable. This one is special too because in FoxIT, if you try to modify the yes/no selections, it's supposed to gray out the non applicable fields, but this functionality doesn't work in FoxIT. You need to make all your yes/no selections in Adobe to enable the proper fields, save it, and then switch to FoxIT to edit it further in multiple sittings.

Ah ok, yes, IMM 5490 has been particular difficult to work with

I hope we are in the final stretch to get the application in - we are behind by at least a month from our plan!
Thanks!
