hi all. I'm looking for some help and advise on family sponsorship and just wondered if anyone on here would be able to help me.

My situation is, my family has just been granted permanent residency for Canada; which is great news. However, due to my age (I am 28) I didn't qualify for the permanent residency along with them or my younger siblings. My family's desire is to now move permanently over to Canada and start a new life there. I also have a 2 year old daughter and I want us to be with my family. I would wish for us to be able to live in Canada along with them. Does anyone know of anyway I could possibly be sponsored so that I can live and work in Canada? I have explored work sponsorship options, I do not qualify under these terms either. It just seems crazy, that my whole family will be living in Canada, but yet they wont allow me in. Surely there must be a way?? Failing sponsorship, does anyone know the rules and regulations on entering Canada as a visitor... for example would I be able to stay with them or 3 months at a time??

Any advise would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

Depending on what country you're from, you may need to apply for a visitor visa to visit your family in Canada. If you are from a visa exempt country, then you can travel without a visa. You can stay up to 6 months as a visitor, if the immigration officer at entry doesn't limit you to a lesser amount of time. As a visitor, you can not work! If you require a visa to enter Canada, it will be difficult to obtain, especially with all of your family living in Canada. You will have to prove strong ties to your home country and sufficient funds to support you and your daughter while visiting.

Yes, tell us what country you are from so we can give you more advice.

thank you for your responses. I am from the UK so a British citizen. Any advise you have would be really appreciated. Thank you.

As a British citizen, you can enter for 6 months as a visitor without a visa. You CAN'T work while here as a visitor.

Have a look at the IEC program. It should reopen in the next few months. It is SUPER competitive, spots go in about 15 minutes.
