Heatlh Card OWP

So,

My wife just received her OWP.... Now are we able to apply for a health card right away?.and if we can..how much time does it take for her to receive it AND to be able to use it? or is the process same as a PR/Citizen health card?

Please point me to the right post if this topic has been discussed recently... i cannot seem to find any

Here in Alberta, me holding wp and my spouse holding owp and our child holding visitor permit, just went to a registry office and applied for Alberta health care.
I don't remembre how long it took the first time to receive it, but the other times that we went to renew it it took an hour or so to have it re-activated.

You need to show them proof of address( driver's license or rent contract ,..), call the closest registry to you and ask what other documents they may need.

They may write down your health care number and give it to you to use it until you receive the cards by mail. If not you may ask them for it.

It's a simple process. But may vary from province to province a bit.
