Hey Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone here has been denied, re-applied and then received their Visa?

My boyfriend was just refused temporary resident visa (multiple entry) and we are considering re-applying again. We will explain in more detail what exactly we are trying to accomplish there (to visit my family, and for him to meet my family)

I'm just wondering if anyone has been in the same position and if so, what do you recommend?

The first time we submitted:
-my resident card for Mexico ( I am currently living with him)
-my passport
-my notice of assessment from 2010
-Joint bank account for our savings to Canada ($3500) (I also explained we only need to buy plane tickets and will have medical insurance and our costs for the trip would be $1500.)
-2 property papers in his name
-6 months bank history
-Letter from employer with time off
-previous vacation home rental agreement with both of our names from last year
-contract for a utility in my name at the same address to prove we live together.
-my sister who invited us, her and her husbands passport
-Invitation letter, saying we did not need to pay for anything while there.
-my sister and husbands house certificate
-my sister and husbands notice of assessment from last year.

All of his family live here in Mexico, including his 3 daughters (8-16 years). His job is here, his entire family lives within 20 feet of our house all in the same location.

We also advised them we would purchase the plane ticket ahead of time if they needed.

I thought it was so obvious we were not trying to cheat the system and overstay our welcome in Canada, but apparently they aren't convinced.

Any suggestions/idea's welcome :)

After reading of the many posts in this forum, I learnt one thing: not to apply a multiple visa before you had a single visa beforehand.

Thanks steaky, too bad i didn't know before lol. I thought that it would 'help' our application since it's obvious if we are applying for multiple entry that we intend to come back to Canada. And secondly, i thought the hassle of applying and costs of applying not to mention the time, it would end up being worth it cuz we plan to travel 1-2 per year.

This next application will only be single entry for the simple reason i can't afford another deniiiied visa lol :).

Since you've been around these boards for a long time, have you seen a lot of people re-applying and actually getting the visa on the second try? I really dont have new documentations, but i am writing a cover letter with a bunch of bullet points addressing their concerns they chose and giving them reasons why they should reconsider.

Not yet. Some applied two or three times but no response afterwards.

Some thoughts about your invitation letter. You should include that you would be paying for your boyfriend food and traveling during his stay (write specific dates/match the dates in the form) in Canada, purpose of visit and points of interest you would be showing him.

I applied and got denied; applied again and was granted a visa. Overcome the points of refusal.

Yay! Thanks for your input. Did you apply new documents for the points of refusal, or did you just explain in a letter/point form type document?
I really don't have anything more to submit, but i am going to re-apply with a point form explanation (easier to read).

Thanks!

New documents. Was not too keen when I applied the first time. Just gave in to pressure so I applied. The next time around, I was ready and had as much "proof of ties" and financial capability to do the visit even if my visit was being financed by somebody else. I did not apply too soon though. Waited several months before I applied again.

I was told by someone who claims to have many contacts in a Canadian embassy that merely applying a second time gets your application out of the huge first-time in basket, where VOs have very little time for real analysis, and into a second pile where the VO actually spends some time reviewing your application. So yes, re-apply.

I posted a message on this point, in which I explain the reasons, but don't know if searching for it will find it.

Is this the post?

Oh Yes!! Toby !! this was the post I was reading previously and wondered if anyone had any luck with it. I'm definitely going to apply again. My boyfriend only has time off in september as it's the low season for tourism in Mexico so we are going to apply again next week ( I know it's super soon...but what can you do) if not, then we will just wait and I guess attempt PR in the future.

Thanks so much guys ;)

Hi there,
Please i need very urgent answers to these questions.
(1) Do i need Health Insurance to go on a tourism visit to Canada, and would a Visa officer mandatorily request for it as at the time of applying for a visa.

(2)Under "purpose of visit" do u have any idea of what i can say is my purpose of Visit?

(3)There are lots of free events/activities or tour packages in Canada for tourists to visit...Would a Visa officer recognise my application if i chose any of the interesting free tour packages?.
pls reply.
your response is always appreciated and meaningfull.
Thanks

The onus is on you to prove you're going back to the country you're applying from, so show as much ties as you can. If you intend to use the "tour package" as a reason, you should be able to show that your have made other "tours/trips" before to countries that require visa, i.e. a good travel history helps.

(2)Under "purpose of visit" do u have any idea of what i can say is my purpose of Visit? So what is the purpose of your visit? Only you can answer that.

(3)There are lots of free events/activities or tour packages in Canada for tourists to visit...Would a Visa officer recognise my application if i chose any of the interesting free tour packages?. Sometimes travel agencies offer to help obtain visa but it's not always 100% successful.
pls reply.

hi there, Job Seeker.
Thank you so much for this reply ,its quite explanatory and meaningfull, may God continue to bless you with more wizdom and experience, if not 4 u ,i would have made serious mistakes that could dent the rest of my future application.....

However, i intend applying for my visitor visa very soon, and i have drafted a TRAVEL ITINERARY AND A LETTER OF EXPLANATION, which explains and shows a detailed ties to my country of residence,my purpose of visit etc, but before i send the application, i would like you to help me review what i have written if it does makes sense, bcos i'm feeling like these Visa officers might not go thru the explantions due to the daily huge applications they recieve...

so pls ,if u do not mind ,send me ur email so i can attach the note to ur email for u to review.
and may God bless u as u do so.
