Hi All,

I need your advice regarding my situation plz,

today I have completed the RO (730 days in Canada), and I'm leaving Canada the day after tomorrow( by that time i will be having 732 days)
And i will not came back to Canada until September,
My pr card will be expired next month.
I have a brother who lives in Canada, so he will be receiving my new pr card in his mail since I won't be in Canada at that time.

My questions are:

1- can I apply for renewing my pr card? if so, what if they put my application under the "second review" or asked me to pick up the the new pr card personally?

2- In case of the delay, am I still allowed to apply for a PRTD from back home while having a PR renewal application here in Canada still in process ? and what are the chances of getting my

3- what are the chances of getting my PR card & PRTD applications refused?

P.S I have more than 20 stamps and visas on my 2 passports!

plz help since its urgent and I cant change or postpone my flight
thanks in advance!

How did you compile your 730 days, were some of these days from 2011?

Remember that residency obligation calculations go back exactly 5 years from any given date. So for example if you had 30 days of the 730 from May 2011, then after May 2016 those days will no longer count and you would be in violation of the RO again if you aren't residing in Canada.

If the 730 days are all more recent, then you wouldn't need to worry about traveling. Just ensure your proof of ALL days is rock solid. If CIC has doubts on even a few of your days your app could be in trouble. Same in applying for a PRTD. Usually people are recommended to apply with at least a month or so additional days over 730, just in case.

Hi
thanks for the quick reply!

All of the 730 days are from 2013 and up.

I have extra 70 days back from 2011 and I know I can't count them!

what kind of trouble do you mean? are there any chance "even a minor ones" to loss my pr card?

thanks in advance!

It may go for secondary review hence more processing time for pr card renewal.

I mean that if CIC for some reason doesn't accept some of your days that you are claiming as being resident in Canada, it could drop your 732 days down to something below 730. This could affect both the PR renewal, and if you need to later apply for a PR Travel Document.

As mentioned, usually it's better to apply with a good buffer of days over 730 just in case CIC counts the days differently than you. However if you are sure of all your 730 days will be accepted, then the app should go through no problem. If CIC feels differently you may need to send in additional proofs of residency days, or appeal a rejection if it comes down to that.

You also mentioned you're leaving Canada within the next day, have you actually completed and sent in the PR renewal application? This should be done while you're still in Canada.
