Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
The very bottom of page 4 on the Schedule A, background form (for the applicant) says NOT to sign the section at the bottom, because they may be asked to sign in the presence of a government official. I suppose that's so that they can officially find the person guilty of misrepresentation, if CIC were to discover a discrepancy and the applicant still decided to sign the form...again.

Or...would there be a different, perhaps less sinister, reason?

Just curious.

I read it as like you are signing something in front of them for their eyes to see you doing it. All this stuff so far has been "do it and send it in to us" type thing. Nothing to be afraid of, its just like a final seal of this is truthful etc...

It would also hold accountable the officer that signs it too, that he/she asks you, everything here checks out, etc.

If I was at that point in my process, I would be jumping in my pants to sign that line!!!
