Hi, I am going back to my country for a job opportunity to support my husband who is going to 4 years university program in Canada and he is Canadian citizen. While outside of canada which will be more than 3 years, I will lose my PR status. But We are going back together after his graduation. So, Is it possible that we can reapply and get back my PR status in Canada?

I am not really sure the reason works out or not...

I need a help. Thank you!

Hi

Yes, your husband can sponsor you again. You will have to pay everything and do everything again (medical, police certificates etc). But I wouldn't foresee any problems with it, as he is sponsoring the same person again :)

There is also a chance that you won't be reported for failing to meet the residency obligations when you return to Canada, in which case you just need to remain in Canada for 2 years to meet the residency obligation and there won't be a need to reapply for sponsorship.

Hi canuck_in_uk,

Thank you soso much!!! I am so gland and relieved that now finally figured out! Have a great day!

No prob, glad to have helped :)

There are quite a few people who failed to meet the residency obligation but have re-entered without being reported. It depends on the border officer; they might not check if you meet the requirement, they might let you off with a lecture or they might report you.

Just to make sure you know: if you stay out of Canada but WITH your Canadian husband ( at the same place), then the days with him count towards residency.
So - if you're both moving out of Canada for a while but are together you won't loose your status.
If he is staying in Canada and you're moving out for a while, then that's more of an issue - but yes, he can sponsor you again.
Good luck,
Sweden

Hi canuck_in_uk,
Thanks again. Yeah. I know it all depends on the officer. However, even if he or she catches me, we have no problem to reapply and pay fees :)

Hi Sweden,

Thank you. We are not leaving Canada together. He has to stay for study and meanwhile I make our budgets outside of Canada. As long as we can get my PR status back, Its no problem about the process ;)
