looking for advice and opinions

We were putting in for spouse sponsorship and applied for extension of visitor visa. When I put application for extension I put we were requesting extension for purpose of spousal sponsorship, we received approval on Oct 28th and was granted extension until April of 2018. My spouse recevied news that his father was ill, and had to return to his country to assist in helping his father with his affairs. He left Dec 8th, he is now returning on Jan 20th.

My question is will he have problems reentering if he shows them his approval letter stating he was approved till April based on we were filing for spouse sponsorship but had to leave due to his father's illness?

As soon as he left Canada his status became void (unless multiple entry).

Certainly explain the situation to the border official and they will make their decision.

Unfortunately nobody on this forum will be able to tell you what the border official will say but being open and honest is the way to go.

What country is he from?

He is from Greece which doesn't need an actual visa to enter Canada, just the ETA one

Is he your husband or partner?

Do you intend to apply inland or Outland?

Sorry he is my common law we've been together since 2015 and he lived with me here in Canada for over a year. We applied for 2 extensions and they were given and was just putting in for the PR papers when we received word
