Hi friends,

I am posting on behave of a relative. He had an aplastic anemia disease in the past 5 years ago but with gods grace he has receovered significantly. Never required blood transfusions although he maintains 70k platelets without any medication which are low from normal 150k but fine to live a normal life.

This current cic crs score is 474. What are chances that his application might be rejected for canadian PR ?

Best regards, Mroger

If CiC think that he might be dangerous to the public or if your friend is going to cost the system a lot of money then they have the right to refuse him.
Otherwise if you said he had a normal life for the past 5 years and a doctor can provide a written letter to support that then they might consider his application and accept it.

good luck

Hi Mroger,

Can I ask if your friend passed the medical exam? My girl also recovered from aplastic anemia so would like to know if it’d make her inadmissible.
Thanks a lot.

Did she have a stem cell transplant? If not she is in remission. Really depends on each case and what medication she currently use or her history of hospitalizations. A wife or common law partner can’t be denied if her case is medically excessive if you are applying for spousal sponsorship.

Hi Canuck78,

Thanks for your reply. She did not have a transplant and yes, she is in remission. She has been tapered off all meds for a few months now (so no meds currently) and only does monthly blood test to monitor. Her doctor said we can move from monthly check up to quarterly. I should also mention that I'm on a closed work visa and is applying for a study visa for my daughter. I understand that the excessive medical cost applies but wonder if there is a different threshold for temp resident?

yes the threshold is different for non PR applicants. There is also variability between the provinces because international students either get coverage through provincial plans or there are specific international student health plans. You would need to provide a health history and current prognosis. It is still an unpredictable disease and moving to a new country and climate could have an effect on her body.

Thanks Canuck78, appreciate your advice. We are getting our specialist to provide a medical report.
