Hi guys,

I am on H1B in USA and got a job offer in canada from an employer after getting selected through series of interviews. The employer hired an immigration attorney and got all the necessary papers along with $1500 Demand Draft. Went to New York on November 2nd (monday) to get the stamping done. The consulate lady took the papers and just told me would get back. I again requested the lady that the start date of my employment is from today (Nov 2nd and it is a huge client in canada) and so would like to get it done at the earliest (hoping she would do the stamping immediately since client is waiting for me and I do not have much time). After sitting there for 2 hours, I was called to the counter and the lady told me to come back on November 16th. I again requested her about the start date and the client is waiting for me. She told she can't help me. Sine I do not stay in New York, I requested her is she can post it to my address and provided her with fedex overnight self addressed envelope. She took it and I came back to Houston.

Now, no emails or updates from the consulate. The client is pissed off. Donno what to do? I was given no papers or letters to stay that my passport is with the consulate.

What do you guys suggest? Shall I go personally to the consulate once again. Would they allow me inside at all? I have no proof that I had submitted my papers/passport there.

Please suggest and help me out.

Regards
honeyraj

You can try contacting Canadian consulate in Houston... Have you applied for Work Permit or PR?

Hey Commonwealth,

I appreciate your response sir!

I had applied for Temporary work permit for 2 years since the client needs me for 2 years. We had provided the letter of job approval from the employer as well.

Will the Houston office respond to my application applied through New York office? I am free next wednesday. Can I go directly to the houston consulate?

This is what I found in the website for houston consulate...

"Please note
The Canadian Consulate in Houston is primarily a trade and investment office, and focusses on the energy and environment sectors. It does not provide consular services, nor does it process passports or handle visa and immigration enquiries.
For consular services, please contact the Canadian Consulate General in Dallas, Texas, for assistance. "

Houston doesn't do Immigration. Your application is in New York, so that is who you have to contact. They have a case specific email address on their web site.

PMM,

That is what even I thought that houston does not do immigration stuff neither does dallas. I have to get in touch with New York, I believe. I did send them an email but I have no information (like file reference number or any other paper/document to state the same). Is the email stuff effective at all? Phone is useless since no response even after upteen number of voice messages.
