My partner was wondering if GST credits would be considered government assistance or would they still be available when sponsoring ?

GST credits are not Govt assitances...it is part of the tax return u receive. Anything related to Govt Assistance( welfare) would be on the Notice of Assesment...if there is nothing on there that says u received money frm the govt, then ur good!

No, it wouldn't. They are referring to Welfare only. Daycare subsidies, student loans, GST/HST rebates, child tax benefits, disability benefits, EI payments are all not considered to be government assistance.
