Gross income for parent sponsorship

Hello everyone,
I was chosen to sponsor my parents this year.I have a question for IMM5768 form for the gross income,
What do they mean with gross income?Do I put the amount that is in the notice of assessment or what?
Also I work an a nurse nad in the same time I have a privat bussiness.For my bussiness what income do I put;the one that is in the notice of assessment or what I am earning before the deduction ?I earned around $18000 for 2017 but wiht the deductions it si around $8000.Do I put the 18000 or the 8000?
