Got work permit, what about my girlfriend?

Hi everyone, I hope this is the right section to post my problem:

I have a regular work permit in Motreal that will last for 3 years. Is there a way to bring my girlfriend from Austria?
I heard that she could stay as long as the duration of my permit.

Does your girlfriend holds a Austrian passport? If so, she can go to Canada for visit without a visa

Yes I know, but I would like to know if she can stay here with me for the duration of my permit.

I heard many passport holders from the European Community have their visit visas extended.

Were you common-law with your girlfriend? Common law means living together for 12 consecutive months in a conjugal relationship. Is your work considered "skilled" by being Category 0, A or B? If the answer is yes to both of these questions, then your girlfriend could apply for an Open Work Permit which would be tied to your work permit as far as the duration is concerned.
