Got my Green Card while my application in process

Hi,
I have got my temporary Green Card visa (I-151 Stamp) to land in US. Also my Canada case is in process.
I should say that I got my green card via lottery win! I talked with a lawyer and she said that they will call you for an interview and ask you why you have got US Green Card while applying for Canada PR!

I really missed my partner and I want to go for a visit to Canada using my Green Card.

Do you have any idea if by doing this, my application will be in trouble? are GC and Canada PR really related?

Where are you currently living? Yes, once you got your green card you can go to Canada without any problem. I know someone who is currently a GC holder and he got his GC via DVLottery and he comes to Canada to visit his wife without any problem.

Green card holders can enter Canada without any visas required. Rather unfair considering that PR card holders must apply for US tourist visa if they are from a non-visa exempt country.

You won't hear much about it in the UK because we are not eligible to apply.

Same for Canadians. But if both or one of the parents have been born in one of the eligible countries that one can still apply.

For Canada, they don't care whatsoever if you have a green card when processing your PR app. Also after you get PR, as long as you maintain the 2-in-5-years in Canada rule, then you won't lose your PR status and again they won't care if you also have green card status.

However the US is a bit different. After you get green card, the US expects you to remain a regular resident in the US to keep your green card. If you actually are living in Canada, then on any random trip you take to the US the US immigration officer can simply cancel your green card if they feel you are actually residing outside of USA. If you want to keep green card and PR together, you will need to keep US address, bank account, and other ties to show you are still "resident" there. I assume you also need to keep filing US taxes every year (though not totally sure on this one).

The problem with PR holding GC in Canada, it will very difficult to maintain the 6 month US residency yearly requirement without jeopardizing the PR 2 out of 5 year residency requirement. Plus on top of that, US and Canada are now sharing exit control information with each other. US has a much stricter GC requirements than that of Canada. So if US has determined that you have moved to Canada to be permanent resident of Canada, they have sufficient grounds to revoke the Green Card status from Canadian PRs.

Thanks a lot for your complete answer. I have not landed in US yet, and my only concern is that Canada immigration office feels that I am not serious on my Canada PR, but I am! and only reason I want to go to US is to take the opportunity to visit my partner in Canada using GR.
