I have police clearance available from last year, can I use that? I got it in November 2014

As far as i know they are valid for 3 months only, so most probably you will have to apply again.

Depends.

For your current country of residence, PCC is valid for 6 months.

For any other country where you have lived for 6 months or more in a row since turning 18, valid indefinitely if you haven't lived in that country after getting the PCC in Nov '14.

if you are in canada ( assuming ) then your pcc is valid for six months. otherwise you are good to go with your pcc u got in Nov 2014 provided you did not visited that country after you got your pcc.

Just for my own knowledge, to clarify; I lived in a middle eastern country for 7 months after turning 18. Then I moved to Canada. I have a copy of a police certificate issued from that country which I used for my study permit application. I traveled back and forth to that country from Canada staying a maximum of 2 months only. I recently got an original copy of a police certificate from that country 6 months ago. Should I be good to go for any PR application that pops up? Was the copy from when I was 18 sufficient?

thanks,

thanks,

That copy was sufficient. The one you've got now will certainly suffice.

You don't need RCMP certificate from Canada - CIC will tell you if and when you need to get that. You will need a PCC from any other country (including your country of citizenship) where you've lived for more than 6 months in a row since turning 18.

hi asivad..quick question. I'm trying to get my docks in a row before i apply. I attended school in the west indies from 2008 to 2010.i realized i will require a police certificate from there plus my home country....i read on cics site that the country i schooled in will send the pcc to them in the port of Spain. ...but the info there is since 2009...im wondering. ...do you know if everyone collects it and scans to them for ITA or I'll have to wait while they send it to the port of Spain then to ottawa???I'm i making sense?

If you have left that country after getting PCC and never went back and lived more than 6 months....so you may use the same one..

To be more clear, your PCC must be after the last time you visited the country you've lived in, doesn't matter how long you stayed.

Sorry Asivad:
Just wanted to clarify as I am submitting my application soon. A Photocopy of the PCC from where I lived for 6 month before I came to Canada should suffice? I tried looking it up on the CIC website but no luck.

Thanks.

If you haven't lived in that country for more than 6 months in a row AFTER getting the PCC, that would suffice. Upload a scanned image of the photocopy.

I am still waiting for my nomination, but want to prepare for PCCs when asked. My question is:

Should we apply for online digital certificates (which are faster as they are delivered as a signed PDF), or paper ones? Do we need them delivered to CIC, or sent to us, and we upload scanned copies(paper) or the original file (digital)?

Is fingerprints verification a must? Australia delivers a PCC either with or without fingerprint verification. Fingerprint verification takes longer.

Thanks
