Hello All,

I received my PPR on July 24 (I applied as a single applicant). I am to get married in the month of August. On July 27, my consultant informed CIC that I will be getting married soon. Can you tell me if this approach is correct:

I send my passport to the VO, and get my visa stamped. After I get married, I inform CIC about the change in marital status, and wait for further instructions. I am concerned, since my consultant has mentioned that my status is "engaged to be married", will my sending the passport at this stage be tantamount to misrepresentation? Basically, does CIC need to know when we get "engaged"? Or is it that only a formal wedding is what they need to know? Please advise. TIA!

This does not cover "engaged to be married". any idea about that?

Under the law "engaged" is not a status and neither legally recognized. You can only add a spouse, after you are married and have a legal marriage certificate.
