Hi,

Last month I have submitted a sponsorship (Dependant child) application from within Canada for my new born baby(born and living outside Canada). I was jobless when I filed the application and got a job this week. Do I need to update CPC on this change? If yes, how and what docs needs to be submitted? Does it has an impact on the application?

Please, help and suggest ASAP.

Thanks,
Asif

Yes brother u need to update them as ur financial condition matters when the immigration officer reveiws ur case....so update them asap

Yes Asif, you must update them as soon as possible as I believe income comes into play when sponsoring a child... I am unsure of the papers you would need to fill out in order to change the status of your income but you can call the call center and they will be able to advise you of how to go about changing your income.. You may need to provide them with a letter from your employment (I had to provide it for spousal sponsorship) You can ask them when you call.. Hope this helped you in any way :D

Actually, no, you don't "need" to tell them as there are no financial requirements to sponsor a dependant child. But it wouldn't hurt your application to let them know but do it after you receive your file number. There are no special forms other than writing them a letter and perhaps include a copy of your work contract or paystubs if you have some by that time.

Thanks for the prompt replies.

rjessome: When do they issue a file number? Will they inform via mail about the file number? normally how many days it take to have a decision and getting a file number? Just wondering if there will be enough time to post the letter and employment letter in between?

maximus391: you have the same VISA office as mine. Any updates how long does it takes to get a new born Dependant child's case processed through them? Have you heard of any similar cases and their experiences?

everyone, Thanks again!

They issue the visa file number once the visa post begins processing the application for PR, after you have been approved as a sponsor in Mississauga. You may have enough time to mail it but the problem is for CPC matching it up to the proper application form in Mississauga. They get thousands of applications every week and without a file number, how are they going to ensure it gets attached to the appropriate application? Just my opinion but I think you are better off waiting.
