Hey guys, thanks!

Yes, I will be anxiously awaiting word from CIC...but at least the paranoia has dissipated...it'll be back again in a few moments, though.... :P

I live in Guangzhou. If you have time and you're in my neck of the woods, by all means, let's meet up.

Cheers,
FS

I will be back there in Zhuhai January 2013 again, but will meet my wife for a summer trip in Shanghai end of June. Will sip green tea and eat ice cream up in Harbin at her Birthday.

Enjoy your time together. Good thing is that you are not travelling when everyone else has holidays. Try travelling in China during Chinese New Year - forget about it. May as well pull your fingernails out with pliers...

Eating ice cream in Harbin, eh...interesting...you should try that during winter.

No need to explain of spring festival travels. Got my share twice going up to her parents last year and this year. Trains were booked out, busses are hopeless and we got a flight late night and the only two seats left and that a week before festival.

I have been just before Chinese New Year back in Jnauary 2011 in Hong Kong, everything was just fine. And I have been in Guangzhou this January on Chinese New Year, and it was jut fine as well, from a travelling from Canada point of view. The plane tickets this year were quite cheap compared to last summer when I was in Guangzou. I expected this January to be quite expensive, but they were not, I paid 1000$ less this new year than last summer.

Yeah coming from outside china is not a problem but travelling within China at those times. I actually fly always from Syracuse over New York and save $500 compared to a Toronto flight but i am close to the US border near Kingston, so traveling time wise its the same for me but I save big time on airport taxes. Just got a flight to Shanghai in August for $900.

Dropped of my mother load on application package. 6.5 kg or 13 pounds. I had to use two envelopes and tape them together. Its off now and will arrive tomorrow the 10th. Hey Fencesitter, our applications arrive on the same day.

Wow! 6.5kg! Mine was 5 letter-sized envelopes...1 for sponsor, 1 for sponsored person, 3 for proof of relationship. Total weight at 2.7kg.

Actually, mine will arrive on the 12th.

Good luck!

I tracked mine and it is with CPC now. My wife is like you, second guessing things, so far that we had quite some discussion about it. She did send me during last Sunday and than later last minute a change to additional explanations to IMM 5490. I printed off the last one and filed it without even looking at the file name she had sent. She thinks I have the wrong not updated one. Guess perfectionism is being taken too far there. Its gone now and it will not be a reason for refusal as the changes were minor.
She just fears rejection as our Tourist visa Application a few weeks after our wedding was rejected, which is altogether another case. I tried to explain to her that that is exactly why many apply for PR Visa as it is hard to get Tourist Visas and couples go for the full PR.

I know what you mean.

When my wife and I were double checking our photos, we noticed that we spelled our friend's English name as "Miko" instead of "Meko". The Chinese version is correct, however. On another form (or additional sheet - I forget which), we spelled her name correctly, "Meko". Would minor mistakes like this be considered a misrepresentation?

We're pretty sure that everything else has been done according to the guide...there shouldn't be any glaring mistakes or omissions.

The only issue we are concerned about is the original police certificate!!

Oh, and 'letter-sized' is wrong...they were A4 envelopes!

Out of all that, I just got all happy that someone else said KINGSTON hahaha. I'm near Kingston too, towards Cornwall (actually pretty much right between the two!)

I will admit when I sent out my application I let out a BIG sigh of relief! Now I get to worry about it getting through, accepted and sent to Buffalo. One step at a time :P

Parker 24. Well put me to the other side of Kingston, same distance. I am from Prince Edward County and Loyalist Country. I have a friend that spplied for his US wife end of November. They just got ok for his sponsorship. Guess it will be another 6 month before they are accepted. you will be fine too, possibly landing end of 2012?

Yes, we're hoping for that! We're young adults, and he's the oldest son, so his Momma (Southern mom and all!) has been missing her. We're thinking of visiting this summer if my broken foot heals fast haha. I've been to PEC, beautiful out there!!!!
