Hello everyone,

So I submitted my husbands sponsorship application earlier this year and I sent in tons of things along with the application (including chat logs, emails, phone records, wedding invitation cards, photos, etc etc).

Just recently I received our original marriage certificate back via mail. The letter states that a copy has been kept and the original is not needed. The letter is from Ottawa. Anyone else here who has experienced this? Or does anyone know what this really means ? Thanks in advance everyone.

It just means they took a copy and sent you back the original nothing more, nothing less. It neither reflects anything good or bad.

Hmm. Just makes me wonder why out of everything, just the marriage certificate was sent back?

because the rest of the information will be used to continue processing your applications. If you read your directions carefully, they may have only stated to send a certified copy of your marriage certificate. In which case would be why they sent you back the original. They now have a copy of it and will use that copy and the rest of the documents you supplied to continue to process your application.

There really is no 'hidden' agenda there.
