hi guys. i've been married to my wife who is Canadian for almost 2 years now and we have been waiting on our PR approval. i recently left Canada under "implied status" while waiting for an extension on my visitors visa, coming from a non visa exempt country. My wife received my new visitor visa back in Canada recently were we applied for it from Vegreville. so my question is if i can re-enter Canada to visit her with the new trv i have recently received. any help/advice would be appreciated! thanks!

Did you apply for a new visitor visa or did you apply to extend your current visitor visa? If you applied for an extension, that application was dependent on you remaining in Canada (extensions only work for remaining longer in Canada - you can't use them to re-enter the country if you leave).

You'll have to apply for a new visitor visa from outside of Canada and wait for that application to be approved before you'll be able to re-enter.

i did it through my lawyers but i do believe that it is an extension visa. and also i made a mistake on my first post. i realized the country that im from which is taiwan is visa exempt! does that make a difference? seeing as how i guess i was extending my 6 months on my previous trip to canada?

If you are from a visa-exempt country you can't have a visa. That is a contradiction.

You requested an extension to your visitor status. The one you wife has is good for people IN CANADA. As you are out of Canada the extension is void. Visitor status is removed when you exit Canada, no matter the length of the stay you are granted.

i understand that now. thanks! i've been in canada since i was in grade 1 (94') because of my fathers diplomatic status. starting from grade 9, i've always required visas for studying, so maybe the word visa has always been in my head, since taiwan was not a visa exempt country to canada at that time.
my main concern i guess was just making sure i kept a clean record within canada by having the visitor extension that you had mentioned.
