My wife has linked her application to her account and now we're waiting for the requests for the police check and and medical check. However time is getting tight as we were planning on leaving Tokyo (where we currently live), staying at the in-laws for 10 days and then flying to Canada. My wife doesn't have many days off left so we're hoping to get the request quickly. What were wondering is, is there any problem with getting the police check done before the request is made? Is there any specific information that Immigration would provide that needs to go on the certificate? Because if not, I was thinking we could go to the police department and plead to be allowed to have a police check done without providing an official request.

We got our Irish and Australian police certs with no requests bc police checks can take a while and we wanted to stay on top of it.

Its the medical you cant do upfront.

We had no problems with police checks.

They never even asked for Australian one but it took a little over a month to get it so we were glad we had it in case

Ok, we're going to try to go that route. I was just worried that something that even if an official request wasn't required, there might be some info on the request that would have to be included in the police check (UCI number, etc).

For future reference, we went today for the police check in Tokyo. I got one myself as I'm going to attend teachers college and might need one for my practicum (well I definitely need one, but I thought I had better get one from Japan as well as I've been living here for the past 10 years). The police check is free in Japan! My wife simply provided her passport and driver's license and for the proof of request she simply showed the staff member an email on her phone from immigration that had showed contact between her and immigration - it actually had nothing to do with requesting a police check. The police check only takes 10 days.
