Hello,

I have executed a wire transfer from my Citibank to my GIC account with Scotia Bank. Citibank has successfully processed the transfer however Scotia bank returned with a response saying "ordering customer address is not per our records".

The address I registered with Scotia bank is the same as in my passport and that is the same address I put in the Beneficiary field while executing the transfer. Still, I got an email from Scotia bank saying there is an address mismatch. Moreover, they are not willing to disclosure why there is an address mismatch.

However, my residential and mailing address with Citibank is different from the address I have on my passport. Is this the cause of the problem?

It is important to note that TCS (5% of 10500CAD which is ~ 30000 rupees) has been deducted during the wire transfer and I will be charged again. A total loss of 60000 rupees for me because of this problem.

Please Help, it's URGENT!!

If theres a difference in address, yes, that's your problem

If I update the mailing address with my Citibank, this problem should be solved right?

Essentially it's more important for students to make sure their mailing address with the bank is as per passport even though they specified the passport address in the beneficiary field during wire transfer.

Am I correct? I want this to be documented here so that others who are facing the same problem don't have to worry and run from pillar to post like me.

Finally, I can confirm the following:

Ordering customer's name and address must be the same as the beneficiary name and address.

i.e Your name and address with the bank must exactly be the same as the beneficiary fields you are filling in while making the wire transfer.
