I just read on the ICICI website that "These funds must be wire transferred from a bank account in India that is exclusively in your name or, is a joint
account with your parent(s). If this condition is not met, your money will be returned. Funds will only be accepted if the name of the sender and beneficiary (recipient) matches."

I want to borrow funds from my father in law. Can I get funds transferred to my account and then transfer them to GIC? WOuld that be fine or would it invite any problems?

What about students who don't have money in their own account and don't have joint accounts with parents? How do they buy GICs?

Thanks.

If you get the money in your account transferred then you can pay the gic ! There will be no issue go ahead!
I did same in my previous application! All the Best!
