I'm applying via Regular stream, but I still want to get a GIC so it can be further proof of my finances. I'm applying with my spouse and 2 kids. Do I still get a GIC for CAD10,000 or should I make it CAD20,000 since I'm with family?

Am I allowed to get a CAD20,000 or is the CAD10,000 standard?

CIBC also allows upto 20,000 CAD. Scotiabank has got the highest limit though. Local banks with Canadian branches tend to stick with 10,000 CAD as the limit, atleast in India.
