hi all,
I've decided to create this thread for all those who might be on implied status and are not sure whether they should try to obtain work permit via flagpolling or not.
I read few threads on that subject before I did mine and there were different opinions on that.
in my case, my IEC expired at the end of September this year but I applied for a tourist visa like 2-3 weeks before my permit was due, just to maintain the legal status in Canada. I got my BC PNP nomination in October but decided to go to the border just yesterday as my visitor visa still hasn't been granted (I can withdraw my application now) and I didn't want to wait any longer even tho I was bit terrified leaving Canadian borders while on implied status (I'm from visa exempt country but that fact wouldn't have probably saved my bum if my visa had gotten declined). so I left my car by the Canadian border, walked to the USA border to grab my entry refusal piece of paper, went back to Canadian side, handed in my paperwork and only question I got was if I have already applied for PR. I haven't as I wanted to get my visa sorted first - I replied, and officer just said "it's not a problem". got 2 year closed work permit with no hassle.
I can't say "YOU SHOULD GO" but in my case it was a hassle-free process even tho I was really s*itting my pants.
cheers and good luck!
