Hi , I ve got a degree from UK.Sometimes back I got it evaluated from a US educational service , for the purpose of "getting higher education" with a US university. Now will my previous evaluation by a US institution will work for CIC as well or shd i get the evaluation from a Canadian evaluation institution specially for the purpose of "immigration" in order to gain points for my education.Kindly advise.

you don't need to get it evaluated for FSW immigration purpose. Just take it as it is. What degree do you have?

thanks rupesh, well i ve a bachelors degree but i ve read experiences of some ppl who did not get points for education even having western qualfications , so just to be on the safe side I need an evaluation.I ll be more than happy if someone or u cud recommend me any reputed(accepted by CIc as well)canadian evaluating agency.

Its not about Eastern or Western qualifications my friend, its about the no. of years you've spent in education. And of course, Bachelors and Masters courses are usually of a longer duration in US & Canada than in Europe and Asia. Thats why an American/Canadian graduate would have spent more years at uni than his European or Asian counterpart even though their qualification level would be the same. And so for the purpose of immigration, CIC evaluates your years of education based on their own system, rather than anyone else's.

Hi,

I am getting mine evaluated from http://www.wes.org/ca/index.asp. You are right, to be on the safe side you should get it evaluated. For others, their education maybe part-time/accelerated mode or not sure about the total years of education so they need it too. The officer may not have experience with all the credentials from around the world and they will be effectively persuaded by a report such as from WES.

I think it only matters that your degree is recognized in your country. is the university that you studied in an unusual case?

i dont think you need to get it evaluated for CIC purpose. I dont know about for jobs.

Thats only my opinion.
