Hubby and I got married on the 14th of October and we are getting things together to send out my application.

Firstly - do we wait for medical and and a police report to be requested, or can we add those into our application already (Hoping to speed the process up)

2. I'm trying to calculate fee's for everything and if I'm right, it's going to be about 1,500 dollars. . . does that have to be paid before we even send our application out or is there a way to do that in payments?

3. CIC website is telling me that the application package has the address I need to send my application to, a few weeks ago I was told applications are going through Ottawa. . . and the addresses aren't matching up obviously.

I really appreciate the help! It's really hard finding answers on the Canadian website :\

r u inland or outland
whats ur or husband status
r u in canada now

My Husband is a Canadian citizen and is in Canada.

I am in Canada now as well and we are Applying outland.

Are you applying outland or inland? If inland, you would send your app to Vegreville. If outland, applications go to Missassagua.

Outland/Missassagua:
CPC Mississauga
P.O. Box 3000, Station A
Mississauga, ON
L5A 4N6

Inland/Vegreville:
CPC Vegreville
Permanent Residence Applications
6212-55th Avenue
Vegreville, AB
T9C 1W3

It is best to do the medical and police report and include them with your application. Keep in mind that the medical expires after one year, and that the police report must be received by CIC within three months of the date it was issued (though they generally do not expire, as long as CIC receives them within that three-month window). You'll want to time the medical exam and the receipt of the police certificate so that you do the medical right before you submit the app, and so that you are ready to send the app quickly once the police certificate is received.

Fees are $75 for sponsor, $475 for principal applicant, and $490 right of permanent residence fee. You may pay just the first two at the beginning, and pay the RPRF fee later. Some say this may slow down processing of your application, but this was not the case for us (we paid the RPRF once we were notified that a decision had been made, and I landed as a PR about six weeks later - inland app through Québec).

Okay, so outland. Send to Mississagua. You'll need to note your Visa Office in your app, which you can find here:

you have to do upfront medicals and pcc and submit complete application.

thats coming around 1000 how you got 1500. You have to pay before submitting application and include those receipts

outland applications go to missisauga first and then to visa office which is handling case.

Awesome, thanks for clearing that part up.

Also, another quick question since hubby asked me to mention it.

I've been in Canada since about a month after my 18th birthday . . .it's asking for a police background check from the age of 18 up. . . and I'm still 18 and have been in Canada just about the whole time.
Does that still require the police background check?

only seniors can answer this question of pcc. with regards to the fees i think better to pay all together as it wouldnt look like dragging application just for RPRF.

You only need a police certificate from any country/countries in which you have lived for 6 months or more since turning 18. It does not appear you need one.

You do not need to request a police certificate from Canada. In some cases, it is required, but CIC will send you a request if it is.

As for paying the RPRF, as I said, some state that paying the RPRF later will slow down your app. We paid ours after being notified that processing of my application was finished, and it did not slow down my application at all. Only you can decide whether it's a risk you want to take. As you will learn if you read much in this forum, the ONLY thing CIC is consistent about is being inconsistent. Two nearly identical applications may have radically different timelines.

For OUtland, paying the RPRF up-front is better, for inland it doesn't make a difference.

For Inland: the RPRF can be paid the day before the landing interview and as long as the receipt is shown at the landing interview, then it's OK.

Outland is different: the VO (who issue visas) can not see if the payment has gone through ( as it's done in Canada). So the applicant has to send the receipt to Mississauga, who checks that the payment has arrived, matches it with the application and then informs the VO - the process can create delays. You can send the receipt to the VO as well as Mississauga, but Mississauga will still have to confirm the payment to the VO, so it will delay.

If you can, pay everything upfront, it will save you time. If not, pay the first fees, and once you have the sponsor approval ( in a month or so), pay the RPRF, and send the receipt to Mississauga... so when the VO actually opens your file, it will be complete.

I spoke to an immigration lawyer this week and she said, the police certificates are the only documents you can send later but recommended writing a cover letter saying the certificates have been requested and will be forwarded when available.

Aha! That makes sense. I've seen people talk about it slowing down the process, but have seen a lot of people pay after DM without any issues. However, I mostly "hang out" here with other inland applicants and don't know as much about the outland process. Thanks for clearing that up, Sweden!
