LANDED..........

Experts in this forum, could one of your guide step by step, what should be done to get the PR card. Say, someone arrives at Calgary Airport. Then what..... Please guide.

During the landing process at the airport, the IO will review your papers, ask you several questions, confirm a Canadian address for mailing you the PR card, input some stuff into the computer and ask for your signature. That is it, and the PR card will arrive in the mail weeks later. You will not have to do anything else after landing to receive it.

1. What type of questions are asked by them ?
2. Is there any issue if we tell honestly that we have come initially to just enter the country before the deadline date and will return back immediately to our country of Residence ? And that, we will come back in one or two years to settle down.
3. If they ask - where are we going to stay and we mention that for the present 10 days stay, we will be staying in a hotel, will this creat any problem ? Problem means will this be any cause for rejection of the PR ?

Sorry for these basic questions.

Trust me, after going through all the hoops of applying, landing is straightforward, quick and easy.

Landing is simply a formality to finish routine paperwork on your file. As long as you haven't changed your status or done anything weird/illegal since you were granted the visa everything will be fine.

I recall the questions are something like...
1. As anything changed in your status since you received your COPR (i.e., did you marry, have a child, etc)?
2. What is your address in Canada? I understand you have an option of not declaring an address until you settle permanently. I think they give you paperwork for sending your address later, but I'm not sure, and you apply for a PR travel document to come back.
3. Is everything correct (name, birth date, etc) on this printout?

It is VERY common for new residents to land and quickly return to their home country to settle affairs. They will not have a problem with where you plan to stay or for how long. These issues will have no effect on whether you are given PR. Just be sure that you return in time to fulfill your residency requirement of staying 2 years of the first 5 in Canada. After that, the requirement becomes 2 years within the previous 5 years and has a rolling timeline.

I recalled they also ask how much money we are carrying which equivalent to how much CAD.

Oh yes. Thanks Steaky. I forgot that one.
