Hi everyone.

I'm new to this forum and very excited to join the community. I'm looking forward to all the collaboration.

I currently have a valid study permit valid until Nov31, 2017, visa valid until the same date and my passport is valid until Apr 2020.
I'm planning to apply for post-graduate work permit in September 2017 and I want to get it for 3 years, so I will need passport valid at least until Sep 2020.
Therefore I want to get a new passport before applying for post-graduate work permit.
My government (Russia) doesn't mind giving a new passport without annulling my old passport, so I will hold two valid Russian passports at the same time.

My question is: can I get new TRV in my new passport while my old TRV and my old passport are both still valid?

Thanks everyone!

Hi,

The Visa in your old passport it still valid, even though the old passport is not. When you cross the border with 2 passports - simply show them Visa in your OLD passport and you will get a stamp in your NEW one (I have been in this situation before, no questions asked at the border). When applying for a new Visa, you will show photocopies of you OLD passport and if get approved, will get a Visa in a NEW one.

Bottom line: all visa's and study permits are still valid, but the passport itself is not.

Удачи!
