I was wondering if anyone knew how long it takes to get permanent residency once getting a civil marriage license. We are planing to married through city hall and then apply with that. Does things complicate further because he's a visa student on a graduate scholarship? Trying to expedite this process so he can get some full time work after he receives his masters right away. Any ideas? Has anyone gone through this before?

He can apply for a post graduate work permit after graduation of a course at least 8 months long. It will allow him to work freely.
