Hey Guys

I have like a million questions. Ill start with few. I am getting married in December9( Wohoooooo!!!) . My fiance is back home in India and I am currently on a LMIA based work permit, which is valid till July 2017. I have applied for PR and hoping to hear something before i get married.

What are the options for my spouse to come here right after our marriage along with me. Does anyone have experience with this? Some guidance will be really appreciated.

THanks

Do you have a full time NOC A, B or 0 job?

Yes i do have a Full time Noc B job

With a full time skilled job, your spouse can apply for an open work permit after you get married.

How long does the process usually take? We are trying to find a way so that we both can come back together after marriage, rather than she applying for WP and wait there till she gets

Processing times depend on the particular visa office that the application is processed by. You can find current processing times on the cic website. However there's no way to predict what the processing time will be in the future when you apply.

In that case, it would be faster to apply for a TRV to join you in Canada and apply for an open work permit from inside Canada once she is here.

However, your spouse will still has to prove ties to home country etc. to show that she is not likely to overstay in Canada.

if you happen to get married before your PR application is finalized, you can request CIC to add her details to your application. This might delay your application by few weeks to a month, but it is much much faster than the other option. Which is when your PR app is finalized and you become a PR before marriage. In that case you will have to go through sponsorship process, which can be time consuming.
