Hello everyone,

I have recieved my COPR and intending to land next month. Question I have is regarding spousal sponsorship.

I plan to get married next year in my home country, and wanted to know, if my spouse already has a CRS of 475. Is it advisable to help her get direct ITA? or would it become mandatory for me to sponsor her under spousal sponsorship category? (considering it takes hell lot of a time).

P.S I would land first, and get married later, so that doesn't fall under misrepresentation.

Any input in this regard would be highly appreciated.

I'm going through your situation. I am a PR in canada and got recently married . My spouse has 482 points . Not sure if she can go via regular ITA route or spousal sponsorship is mandatory ?

Did you ask around? I asked someone and found one its completely our choice.
Need to double check though.

Anyone with answer?

Even if you get married during application, you are not misrepresenting as long as you notify IRCC promptly. Don't get too paranoid. After landing, you are free to do anything you want. CRS 475 is pretty good and should have no problem in the next round or so. Either route (EE or spousal) your spouse should have no problem getting PR

Thank you.
So, getting married in my country means, change in name in the passport, which further means extra documentation while getting her ECA, and too much confusion regarding name change.
Is it wise to get married after she gets PR?

Two landed immigrants, getting married, do they need to inform IRCC, even in that case also to be considered as a FAMILY?

Name change is another thing (which may or may not apply to everyone on their official documents) and can be proved from marriage cert. It's more docs to prove, but can be done. And you don't need to provide it until IRCC requests

IRCC don't track your status after granted PR
