I am canadian and will be marrying a Japanese girl and moving from Japan to canada with her in July.
Got the marriage affidavit signed today. They have me a Japanese version of the form. I assume that one doesn't also have to be notarized.
When we get married, we will need to present copies (?) of our marriage certificate, (translated into English?) a copy of me on her family register (translated into English?), the affidavit and.... Am I missing anything?
My concern is all these translations. Do they have to be done by a certified translator (only found in Canada, none here in Japan according to an embassy representative.) ? Can I use a professional translator in Japan? Will I have to get those documents notarized? If so, by who? The embassy again?
And who am I doing all this for? The federal AND provincial governments or just the federal as it's CIC?
The province in question is Ontario btw.
Thanks in advance for your responses. This one is a little question packed. Unpack carefully. ;p
