Okay, so I'm a Canadian citizen and the situation with my spouse who is a Spanish citizen pretty much puts us in a position where we need a way for him to work at a job he was offered asap/within months. Now the manager that offered this job had said an open work permit would do best but since I know very little about immigration/foriegn work policies I wanted to know if this was the best and fastest course of action or if there are other ways. Currently my husband is staying with me in Canada and has been for a month. It's also of note that I am currently going to university so cheap options are always welcome too if possible. Thanks in advance for suggestions!!

There are no quick/easy solutions. Options are:
1. Company would need to go through LMIA/LMO process to get him a closed work permit. It will cost the company approx $1000 to do this and take several months while they advertise the position to ensure no Canadian can fill the role and do all necessary paperwork with CIC
2. Apply for his PR (assuming you're married or common-law) OUTLAND, and he could work after his PR is fully approved. Spanish citizens are processed in Paris visa office, which should take around 8-10 months
3. Apply for his PR INLAND, and he would get an Open Work Permit after stage 1 approval (based on current times is 12 months wait)
4. See if he qualifies for a working holiday/IEC visa as Spanish citizen. This could take some time depending on if spots are open still this year or when next application phase is
