i'm new to this board so i'll briefly explain my situation: i'm american and have been living/working in canada on a work visa since 1999. i just found out my current renewal application was refused. i was never informed that i should apply for PR (likely 5-6 years ago) and i specifically asked the call centre several years ago if there's a limit as to how many times i can renew my visa and was told no, as long as i have a job offer letter. so, i thought nothing of it and there was always more important things to do with lots of money! i've worked for the provincial government for the past 11 years with no intention of leaving. so, now i'm applying for PR and i was told by a lawyer that i could likely apply for a work visa at a POE once i submit my application for PR. i'm wondering if anyone has done this and what their experience has been?? i'm suddenly on leave without pay and want to get back to work ASAP.
