I am an American citizen who has never ever driven a car nor taken a driving lesson.
I am now in Québec in the very first few days of my year-long Working Holiday Visa. I would like to eventually renew this for a total of 2 years working in Canada.
My questions are as follows:
1) As a temporary resident here on a WHV, am I allowed to take the written test that will allow me to drive as a student driver on a learning permit?
2) And, eventually, once I've fulfilled all the learning permit requirements (lessons, driving hours, etc.), will I be allowed to take the full driving licence exam and be issued a permanent, valid Québec driving licence?
I know that this isn't ideal and practical for many reasons, and I'm exploring other options. Right now, all I'm asking is, practicality aside, is this an option, legally speaking?
Thank you!
