Hi,

I'm planning to live in Quebec while waiting for the application to be processed. I wanted to ask if it is possible to start looking for jobs, and if a company would like to hire me, would that be possible? I understand that would be a different process where a company sponsor a skilled worker, or could the company contact CIC to speed up things? If anyone has gone through the sam experience please let me know, I quite skilled in my field (IT Networking) and there are plenty of jobs for me, but so far the visa has been a problem to go further in the interviews.

On another note, should the application be successful (Spouse Sponsorship for Quebec), and if I get a job offer in a different province than Quebec, would be any problem to accept it and live outside Quebec?

Thanks in advance!

If you want to work before you become a PR, you will first have to find an employer who is willing to offer you a job. That employer will then need to obtain an approved Labour Market Opinion. As part of this process, the employer will have to prove they advertised the job and no Canadian could be found to hire for the role. If the LMO is approved, you can then apply for a work permit.

No - the company cannot contact CIC to speed up the processing of your PR application.

Thanks Scylla. Is there any problem on having both processes running at the same time. Should be OK if first I get a work permit and then the PR? and do you know how easy is for a company to obtain a LMO and what would be the time length of this process until I'd get a working visa?

Thanks again

There is no problem having both processes running at the same time. It is typically very difficult to find employers who are willing to go through the LMO process. The LMO process typically takes a couple of months to complete. The employer must also advertise the job which adds and additional month or so. I would count on at least three months - possibly more.

Does anyone know about the second part of my first post? Once getting the PR we would be open to many provinces

On another note, should the application be successful (Spouse Sponsorship for Quebec), and if I get a job offer in a different province than Quebec, would be any problem to accept it and live outside Quebec?

Cheers
