Getting a job in US while application processing

Submitted the application for my spouse last week, got a quick question.

During the processing of the application if I get a job in U.S would that cause any issues? Do I HAVE to notify CIC?
Nature of the job would be travelling consultant, so it would be weekends in Canada and weekdays in U.S, I will be employed by a U.S company, but
will still be maintaining all of my assets in Canada.
Would they even be able to find out that I am not working in Canada anymore as I will be submitting my 2010 return showing that I have been working in Canada through out 2010.

That may get tricky. Are you a PR or Canadian citizen?

I am Canadian citizen.
Actually currently I am also doing similar job (4 days in US and 3 days in Canada), but only difference is that the current employer is Canadian and I pay all the taxes here.
