Hello All,
I'm an international student here in Canada studying Financial Planning. I intend to work in the banking and financial services sector in Canada upon completion of my program. I have 3 years of work experience with an American custodian bank. Upon completion of my program I will be eligible for an 8 month post graduate work permit.
I'd like some clarification on the opportunities available to people such as myself who are not Canadian Permanent Residents or Canadian citizens looking for work in the Canadian banking and financial services sector. I've been hearing that banks or financial services firms are reluctant to hire international students as we have a work permit that expires after a certain time. Please advice if this is true and what can I do to become more employable after completion of my program?
Thanks! :)

Banks have unwritten code of conduct that they only hire PR/Citizens. Anyone's SIN starting from number 9 is NO NO.

Hi, thanks for replying to my post. Can you please advice on what I can do to make myself more employable?

It would be tough to get a job within eight months. Is your plan to stay in Canada? You are eligible only once in your life time to apply for a PGWP in Canada. If your plan to stay in Canada, complete the program and get admission on two years program. You would be eligible for three years PGWP. I think three years is enough to find a job rather than 8 months.
