Getting a file number

My file was received by CIC on may 23th. I've been waiting for almost 2 months and didn't get any file number yet. I asked my immigration company what would happen if I didn't receive it in 2 months. They told me to keep waiting. There's nothing to be done in this situation.

I am very annoyed and anxious. Please advise me what I should do.

AOr is 6-10 weeks currently
You have to wait. This is the small wait. You might not hear anything for 6-10 months after that

Recently the time between your application sent and AOR is 45 days - but again its just a general observation. Some applicants have got it way earlier.

If you sent your documents through Xpress post or anything trackable mail service and you have confirmed that it has reached CIC - then you have got nothing to worry. You know that there is a strike going on too. AOR will get delayed too, no doubts about it. Dont worry, give it a few weeks and AOR will be in your (your lawyer's) mail.

I really recommend reading up on the process and checking out these forums plus trackitt.com which has a page dedicated to timelines.
Be prepared to not hear anything for 6-10 months, dependent on a large number of factors. They have your app so something will happen - just probably not for a while.
