Hi Friends,
Just want to share my experience regarding this, My application was submitted on the last week of Feb 2011 and mine processing was going pretty fast, by July I already had Medical Request and by August the line " Medical Results have been received " line was added in the ecas. Me and my wife was thinking it could be only a matter of time before we got PPR, but then 2 months went nothing happened.
Being worried that my PPR might be lost , I sent an enquiry to my VO asking the reason for delay of PPR, after a month they got back to me saying that my "RCMP Clearance certificate is pending" , RCMP : Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Then I figured out that because my wife stayed in Canada for 10 years before our marriage she needs to get the "RCMP Clearance" . Actually before only in certain cases the VO asks for this, but nowadays its kind of Mandatory that if any of the applicant lived in canada for more than 6 months, you are supposed to submit this.
The problem is that the RCMP clearance certificate takes 4 months to process, so we applied that in early early , eagerly waiting by the end of next month.
So my advise is if any of the applicant spend more that 6 months in Canada, just apply for the RCMP Clearance certificate once you got your PER as its free of cost and dont wait for VO to ask for it. you can say 4 months of processing time....well its not that long to wait....but its good not to wait either..
