Hello everyone, I would like to ask for some help regarding the issue.

I just received ITA and was gathering documents for the application. However, I will be getting married in August 2021. I would like to know if I can add my husband (to-be) as a dependent applicant when
(1) I get married after submitting the document and before COPR is issued.
(2) I get married after COPR is issued and before I first land in Canada.

I also want to know which situation is easier for me to add my husband as a dependent.
Million thanks!

You can add spouse at both instances. Ideally, do it after submission so that both of you can land together.

Thanks so much! Does that mean that Scenario 1 (get married after submission of document) is better than Scenario 2?

Yes - spouse addition takes 4 to 5 months (pre COVID). So, if you do it after COPR, you will still need to wait for that long. If you do the addition earlier, both applications will be simultaneously evaluated.

To add your spouse, you just need to write to your VO or raise a webform. The office will then send you a list of required documents.

Thanks.
I have also heard/ read from other forums that the government may say that it was too late to add the spouse as the dependent after COPR is issued. Is it true that there is such a risk if scenario 2 happens?

Thanks.

I am not completely sure if the addition of spouse can be at the officer's discretion. Please look around on the forum to know more about this.
