Hello, I have a question regarding on requesting the GCMS note online. The online form ask one the following question:

What type of record would you like to request?
(1) Temporary residence
(2) Permanent residence
(3) Family class, spouse, common in-law partner
(4) Express entry profile
(5) Medical
(6) Landing record

So if I am applying under the express entry, should I use (2) Permanent residence or (4) Express entry profile?

And if I am applying for my self, should I choose the "Privacy act" or "Access to information act" ?

Does anyone know about this? Thanks a lot

1. Permanent Residence(please keep your UCI handy)
2. You can order under both- privacy act(this is free) or ATIP(costs 5 bucks)...most ppl apply thru ATIP

...im not sure if u are inland/outland applicant...you can apply for notes if you are an inland applicant...if not you can apply thru gcmsnow or visafile.info

hope this helps!

Hello, sir. Thanks a lot for your reply. Can I ask why "Express entry profile" is not chosen in this question, but "permanent residence" is chosen?

Because I am in the express entry pool, isn't it more accurate to pick the "express entry profile"? Just want to confirm about this.

And I am inland applicant, so I should be using the "privacy act", right? Because I was looking at the CIC website and it said "Access to information and privacy act" is for outland applicant who has a representative order the note on their behalf (this requires a "consent" form to be filled out). So I should chose the "privacy act", and no need to fill out the "consent form"?

Thanks a lot.

1. from what you have shared now...if you are in the pool..then yes..you are right it will be express entry..i assumed you had already received ITA and submitted your documents....my question is-why do you want to order notes right now? because the notes will not give you any definite information at this stage other than changes or updates you have made in your profile...im pretty sure you are aware of the changes/updates...thats the only thing that will show in your notes during pre ita stage..if you have submitted all your documents and are in post ita stage...then your application is for permanent residence...thats why you select permanent residence

2. if you are inland, then you can ordr under ATIP or privacy act like i said earlier...no need to fill out any forms

hope this helps!

Thank you very much for your explanation, Sir. Yes, I think I will use the privacy act to order the GCMS notes (no need to fill out consent forms).

Sorry that I didn't clarify earlier. Actually I have got the AOR for over about four months now. So that is why I want to order the GCMS note and see what has happened to the application. So just to understand correctly, what you mean is that "Express entry profile" option is for someone who has entered the pool but has not received ITA yet? And "Permanent residence" option is for someone who has received ITA and AOR?

It seems the I was also required to fill in the "File number". Is it this "File number" the same as "Express entry profile" number, something like E000XXXXXX (E+9 digits)

Thanks a lot.

Question 1. yes. if you have recd AOR then permanent residence...pre ita then EE
Question 2. you dont need your EE profile number...check your WP or other docs issued by CIC...it will contain your UCI on top right hand...you need to put that number...the UCI will be the same for all the docs issued by CIC for you

hope this helps!

Hello Sir, I am filling out the online GCMS note ordering system right now. Can I just ask one more inquiry about the process?

There is a question in the beginning of the questionnaire in the system.
Please select the Department where you would like to submit an Access to Information or Privacy request.
Is the answer being : "Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada"?
(I think it used to be "Citizenship and Immigration Canada"?). Just want to make sure those two names are referring to the same office.

For the UCI number that you mentioned, in the questionnaire, there is a field called "Client ID Number (####-####)". So I think the UCI should be used there, right? And there is another field called "File Number(s)", and I think the "express entry profile number" should be used in this one? Because I read the AOR, and it is saying quote "We have created a file with the application number provided above. You must quote this application number in any future correspondence".

And there is the last question in the questionnaire:

"Which specific information are you looking for?"
(1) The electronic note of immigration or citizenship officer
(2) The application, supporting document and correspondence send to and/or from IRCC

For this one, which answer should I pick? I was thinking I should pick (1) The electronic note of immigration or citizenship officer, is it correct?

I am sorry for the long questions. Thank you very much.

CICs name is now IRCC so select IRCC...put in UCI and the file number is your EE profile number(correct on that one)...
regarding specific info- it will be option 1 electronic notes of the officers related to your application

you are very welcome...dont stress about the questions...no question is long or irrelevant...keep asking questions, questions are welcome here...no worries...glad to help!!
