Hi, anyone did the request for GCMS report recently? how long will it take to get the report now?
 
Hi, a couple of us have. It usually takes 45 days to receive them.

What exactly GCMS is and what is the advantage of this.

I wanted to update my dependent new passport and consultant did using web form. IRCC responded saying they will forward it to Visa Office.. Is this same ?

GCMS is the detailed record of your application. It is a lengthy document 40-120+ pages which will lists the steps and outcomes IRCC have taken on your application. You will get know what stage your application is and what have they done so far.

Thank you Navprateek. I am an inland applicant. Is that a normal when IRCC acknowledges the documents uploaded. Is that will help in processing application faster ?

Hello. Yes it’s perfectly normal for them to acknowledge that they have received your documents. It doesn’t have any impact on processing time though. If you want to order GCMS notes ask your consultant to order them. He will make you sign a consent form and order them on your behalf. The charge is CAD 5/- . The. Let’s will outline how far your application is processed. They’re quite helpful I believe.

I used this company.
US$15.

I needed to Order GCMS notes to get an idea of what was happening with my application regarding criminality and what they were "saying" within IRCC and if they had done anything or planning to do anything about it. It's a long story about what's going on there but for your questions...

I requested them on 15 March 2018 and received them on the 18 April 2018. so about 35 days or so. This included some public holidays (Easter. Good Friday etc) so not to bad.

There is a sticky post on the forum somewhere here that goes into detail about reading the notes and understanding what IRCC are saying (once you receive your GCMS notes of course) search GCMS and it should come up.

I believe it's secure and haven't had any issues since requesting them.

I'm not using a Representative/lawyer so I'm not sure if they have to request on your behalf.

The form does need to be signed by both the applicant and sponsor as it relates to their information release as well.
